Job Description
Fly.io is a company building a new public cloud, running on their own hardware globally, to facilitate running applications close to users. The infra ops team at Fly.io builds and maintains the platform and tooling for product engineers.
Responsibilities
- - Setting up and iterating on tooling for metrics/monitoring and alerting
- - Writing lots of ''glue'' code integrating various tools
- - Piecing tools together in clever/new/interesting ways
- - Helping refine capacity planning and automating quick burst capacity
- - Building the underlying hosting infrastructure
- - Responding to hardware failures and interfacing with providers
- - Making it easy and safe to make changes to critical system components
- - Working with upstream providers to debug networking issues
Required Skills
- - Good at figuring out what product teams need
- - Knowledge of core infrastructure tech concepts and tools (linux, networking, etc.)
- - Good at debugging and picking up new tools
- - Ability to work autonomously
- - Effective written communication
- - Good at sharing ownership and working on a team
- - Ability to move fast and work with purpose
