Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join Remote as a Payroll Risk and Compliance Expert for the Nordic Region, where you can make a meaningful impact in the global employment space as part of our Payroll Risk and Compliance team.

Responsibilities

  • - Act as a true local employment legislation and tax expert for the Nordics region
  • - Conduct comprehensive risk reviews of payroll files to verify accuracy and compliance with all governmental wage tax laws (federal, state and local) and social security requirements
  • - Identify and rectify discrepancies, underpayments, or overpayments, and recommend corrective actions
  • - Prepare detailed audit findings reports, highlighting areas of concern and recommending improvements to payroll processes
  • - Maintain strong records of audits performed, methodologies used, and the resolution of identified issues
  • - Responsible for ensuring the correctness of our payroll processes and that checklists, sign-off criteria and the network is fully embedded into Payroll Operations
  • - Monitor regulatory climate and ensure changes are understood, implemented, incorporated and communicated to Internal and external teams, as required
  • - Provide support and training on compliance matters to payroll staff
  • - Maintain country knowledge pages
  • - Overall responsibility for compliance and reporting to the Manager of Payroll Compliance and Audit, working with Tax, Legal and Payroll

Required Skills

  • - Strong Legislation expertise in the Nordics region
  • - Experience in a senior payroll role within an in-house payroll environment processing payroll or being in a payroll audit, compliance role
  • - Understands the approach taken by local authorities and has proven track record of communicating with authorities to resolve matters
  • - Has had exposure to local authority investigations and audits
  • - Experience in making recommendations for process improvements and ensuring that they are implemented
  • - Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
  • - Proficiency in data manipulation (eg sql, Excel)
  • - Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • - An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities
  • - Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact
  • - Is a productivity geek and will constantly think of ways to improve and speed up their work
  • - Writes and speaks fluent English as well as the local language being recruited for
