Responsibilities
- - Act as a true local employment legislation and tax expert for DACH region, advising Product and other internal teams when required
- - Conduct comprehensive reviews of payroll files to verify accuracy and compliance with all governmental wage tax laws (federal, state and local) and social security requirements
- - Identify and rectify discrepancies, underpayments, or overpayments, and recommend corrective actions
- - Prepare detailed audit findings reports, highlighting areas of concern and recommending improvements to payroll processes
- - Maintain strong records of audits performed, methodologies used, and the resolution of identified issues
- - Responsible for ensuring the correctness of our payroll processes and that checklists, sign-off criteria and compliance is fully embedded into Payroll Operations
- - Monitor regulatory climate and ensure changes are understood, implemented, incorporated and communicated to internal and external teams, as required
- - Provide support and training on compliance matters to payroll staff
- - Overall responsibility for regional compliance and reporting to the Manager - GP Strategy & Compliance, working with Tax, Legal and Payroll
- - Drive and implement process and product improvements
Required Skills
- - Strong legislation expertise in DACH region, with a particular focus on Austria and Switzerland
- - Successful completion of the professional examination for payroll accountants in accordance with Section 7, Para. 2, No. 3 of the Austrian Bilanzbuchhaltungsgesetz (BiBuG)
- - Minimum 18 months of relevant practical experience in payroll accounting in Austria
- - Registration or eligibility for registration with the Bilanzbuchhaltungsbehörde (Accounting Professions Authority) is highly desirable
- - Extensive experience in a senior payroll role in either a Global Payroll environment processing payroll or in a payroll audit & compliance role
- - Exposure to Austrian BMD software + Swiss software
- - Previous exposure to local authority investigations and audits
- - An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities and the ability to make recommendations for process improvements
- - Strong sense of accountability with excellent time management and organisational skills
- - Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact
- - Understands the need and ideal to work largely asynchronously
- - Writes and speaks fluent English and German
