Senior Backend Engineer - Tech Lead

Responsibilities

• - Be an expert in server-side languages
• - Write excellent, well-tested, maintainable code
• - Give insightful PR reviews
• - Be a trusted technical partner to teammates
• - Prioritise tech debt
• - Proactively jump into P1/P2 incidents
• - Lead post-mortems
• - Upskill and unblock the team
• - Take ownership and lead large projects
• - Help the team navigate ambiguity and manage technical change

Required Skills

• - Proficiency in Kotlin
• - Experience with cloud environments, distributed systems, and microservices
• - Knowledge of relational databases like PostgreSQL
• - Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Cypress, JUnit, Testcontainers
• - Experience with observability and monitoring tools like Datadog
• - Understanding of DevOps culture and tools like GitHub Actions, Gradle, Terraform
• - Ability to work in English with ease
• - Curiosity and love for learning new languages/frameworks
• - Experience solving complex technical challenges at scale
• - Ability to ensure a high bar for quality and reliability
• - Coaching skills to help develop other engineers
• - Advocacy for thorough code review processes
• - Ability to design overall solutions
• - Problem-solving skills
