Senior Backend Engineer, Tumblr

Overview

Automattic is looking for talented engineers worldwide to join Tumblr’s Backend Engineering team, building features and maintaining the platform that is used by millions every day.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • - Build features and maintain the platform used by millions every day
  • - Participate in code reviews and discussions about architecture or design
  • - Collaborate with a global and distributed workforce
  • - Deploy code frequently with peer code review and continuous integration

Required Skills

  • - Production experience with several programming languages, especially PHP
  • - Experience working on a large-scale system
  • - Knowledge of systems architecture
  • - Highly collaborative and love participating in code reviews
  • - Advanced PHP knowledge is a plus
  • - Knowledgeable about design patterns and testability
  • - Experience with testing frameworks, performance testing, and unit testing
  • - Thoughtful about product design with good user experience instincts
  • - Ability to clearly communicate in both long and short form
