Affirm is looking for a Staff Software Engineer for our Cloud Compute team to play a pivotal role in ensuring the robust and scalable foundation of our entire platform.

As a fully remote team based in Spain, we are the engine room that manages all of Affirm's Kubernetes clusters. Our mission is to provide a highly reliable and available cloud environment that empowers all of Affirm's engineering teams to build and deploy innovative solutions seamlessly.
Responsibilities
- - Setting technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale
- - Collaborating across teams in the product development lifecycle
- - Acting as a force-multiplier for your team through your definition and advocacy of technical solutions and operational processes
- - Taking ownership of your team''s operations and availability
- - Fostering a culture of quality and ownership on your team
- - Helping develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance
- - Participating in an on-call rotation
Required Skills
- - Extensive track record of developing and deploying highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, Kubernetes
- - Excellent troubleshooting skills on cloud and distributed systems
- - Extensive experience automating deployments using Kubernetes
- - Experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality in a system
- - Writing high quality code that is easily understood and used by others
- - Thriving in ambiguity and comfortable moving from low level language idioms to the architecture of large systems
- - Strong verbal and written communication skills
