Oxide Computer Company is hiring a Procurement and Inventory Manager to own supplier relationships, negotiate long-term agreements, manage inventory visibility and accuracy, and ensure pricing and availability align with build plans.
Responsibilities
- - Be the primary point of contact for procurement at Oxide Computer Company
- - Negotiate pricing, lead times, and long-term supply agreements with key component vendors
- - Track purchase price variance (PPV) and help finance and engineering understand cost drivers
- - Maintain up-to-date price lists, quotes, lead times, country of origin information, tariffs, and supplier commitments by part number and revision
- - Evaluate supplier quality, ensuring use of authorized distributors
- - Collaborate with our contract manufacturer (CM) to translate production forecasts into material requirements and allocation plans
- - Work directly with suppliers to ensure availability, secure allocations, and preempt shortages for long-lead and critical parts
- - Track supplier performance on delivery, cost, and responsiveness, and escalate as needed to meet production timelines
- - Lead supplier negotiations while coordinating CM purchasing on our behalf
- - Reconcile material usage and purchasing activity between Oxide and our CM to ensure build readiness and cost accuracy
- - Define and improve procurement processes, documentation standards, and vendor onboarding workflows
- - Provide insight into market dynamics, sourcing alternatives, and risk mitigation strategies
- - Own inventory strategy for consigned and CM-procured material across locations
- - Maintain accurate, version-controlled costed bill of materials (BOM) for all active products, tied to actual supplier quotes
- - Work with finance to establish standard BOM cost and with the broader operations team to align on build readiness
- - Monitor component lifecycle status and manage end of life (EOL) transitions with engineering
- - Track and manage excess & obsolete (E&O) material risk
- - Coordinate with logistics and planning to ensure accurate inventory movements and allocations
- - Help define and improve procurement and inventory processes, documentation standards, and ERP workflows
- - Work closely with planning and engineering to integrate part lifecycle, lead times, and inventory policies
Required Skills
- - Experience managing both procurement and inventory for complex hardware systems
- - Skilled at negotiating supplier agreements and securing commitments in constrained or single-source markets
- - Understanding of how contract manufacturers manage inventory and purchasing
- - Enjoy digging into BOMs, spreadsheets, and quote packages to ensure accuracy
- - Clear communication skills, especially when tracking issues across engineering, operations, and finance
- - Organized, persistent, and calm under pressure
- - Motivated by getting the right parts, at the right time, for the right price
- - Ability to find creative solutions for supplier issues and component end of life
- - Curious, detail-oriented, and calm in the face of ambiguity or unexpected challenges
