Senior/Staff Software Engineer — TypeScript, AI & AWS

Job Description

Responsibilities

• - Design, build, and ship production features across Vallor’s TypeScript stack
• - Own backend services, APIs, integrations, data flows, and serverless infrastructure
• - Contribute to the frontend when needed using Next.js and TypeScript
• - Work directly with enterprise customers to understand their workflows and technical requirements
• - Translate customer needs into well-scoped, maintainable product features
• - Communicate tradeoffs, clarify requirements, and push back constructively when needed
• - Build integrations across enterprise systems, contract platforms, communication tools, and third-party APIs
• - Design and maintain serverless, event-driven systems on AWS
• - Contribute to infrastructure-as-code workflows using SST and related tooling
• - Use AI coding agents extensively to accelerate development and parallelize work
• - Review, test, debug, and improve AI-generated code rather than accepting raw output
• - Maintain a high standard for code quality, security, reliability, and maintainability
• - Help shape engineering practices and technical direction as the team grows
• - Identify opportunities beyond the initial customer requirements and turn them into valuable product improvements

Required Skills

• - Senior or Staff-level software engineering experience
• - Deep professional experience with TypeScript
• - Strong backend engineering skills using Node.js, Bun, or similar runtimes
• - Ability to contribute across the full stack, including modern React or Next.js applications
• - Experience building and operating production systems on AWS
• - Strong understanding of serverless and event-driven architecture
• - Experience designing APIs, integrations, and distributed backend workflows
• - Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
• - Familiarity with infrastructure as code
• - Strong product judgment and ability to turn ambiguous needs into shipped solutions
• - Excellent written and verbal English communication
• - Ability to work directly with customers and non-technical stakeholders
• - Strong organization, attention to detail, and project ownership
• - Experience using advanced AI coding tools or agents as a core part of daily development
• - Ability to critically review and take ownership of AI-generated code
