Job Description

Responsibilities

• - Lead a high-performing engineering team through clear vision, structure, and day-to-day direction
• - Drive engineering excellence by owning core KPIs (availability, cycle time, defect rates, engineering velocity)
• - Partner closely with Product and leadership to shape platform strategy and prioritization
• - Ensure security, privacy, and ethical considerations are integrated into development practices
• - Build team capability through hiring, onboarding, coaching, career development, and mentorship
• - Establish scalable processes, norms, and standards that support efficient, high-quality development
• - Delegate effectively while empowering engineers to make technical decisions
• - Identify and deliver cross-team initiatives that improve reliability, developer experience, and engineering efficiency
• - Make informed evaluations and recommendations on promotions, compensation, and performance
• - Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and ensure engineering decisions support business outcomes

Required Skills

• - 6+ years of engineering leadership experience, leading high-performing teams
• - 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
• - 4+ years working with Ruby/Hanami (or other Ruby-based frameworks)
• - 3+ years of infrastructure experience (Heroku and/or AWS)
• - Significant, relevant hands-on engineering experience plus team leadership experience
• - Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
• - Ability to delegate with trust and empower teams to succeed
• - Strong understanding of business drivers and how engineering decisions impact
• - Ability to maintain strong relationships in a multicultural-diverse environment
• - Comfort working with remote teams and contractors
