Job Description
In this role, you will play a critical role in leading the creation and maintenance of comprehensive, high-quality documentation that serves our diverse audience of developers, system administrators, and end-users. You’ll also own and manage the docs tooling and infrastructure. This position requires a deep understanding of technical writing principles, software development processes, and the ability to manage complex documentation projects from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- - Collaborate with software developers, designers, and product managers about new features and upcoming product changes.
- - Write helpful, accurate, well-organized, consistent, and highly effective content from scratch.
- - Own and manage the Docker docs site.
- - Actively monitor emerging trends in developer tooling and propose ways to incorporate them into the docs ecosystem.
- - Use the product, test each procedure and workflow, become an expert user, and provide feedback to product development teams.
- - Collaborate and lead cross-functional initiatives to align product documentation with other forms of customer-enablement content.
- - Use product knowledge and user feedback to lead efforts to continuously improve content and the information architecture of the docs site.
Required Skills
- - 8+ years of technical writing experience.
- - Previous technical writing experience for Developers, IT operations, and DevOps audiences.
- - Excellent content planning and organization skills.
- - The ability to fulfill the information design, writing, and editing components of the role.
- - The ability to quickly learn complex concepts and technologies and clearly explain them to others within the target audience''s context.
- - Expertise in Docs-as-Code practices, including implementing and optimizing workflows, version control, and CI/CD integration for documentation.
- - Hands-on experience managing static site generators (e.g., Hugo, Docusaurus, Jekyll) or documentation platforms.
- - Strong understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- - A good understanding of programming concepts, preferably with Go and/or Python.
